Guelph Dance 2026 Artists-in-Residence
Wings in Motion
Twin Moon’s “Wings in Motion” is a dance project we are exploring through film. We first started the process as part of Guelph Dance's Artist-in-Residence. We had a live showing at their annual festival in June 2026.
The inspiration for this work is relating environmentalism and feminism. The narrative is inspired by the life cycle of a kaleidoscope (a group of monarch butterflies).
The parallel narrative underlining this is reflective of how women and monarchs are persistent, resourceful and resilient against callous outsiders bringing them down. Like monarchs, women will morph and change, not only from the work they will do to overcome adversity, but also because it is innate and inevitable.
Other Choreographical Work
Stage to site specific. We have had the opportunity to choreograph collaboratively with York University dancers. Working with ensemble groups is rare for up and coming choreographers or collectives. The first image is Siege, a piece about mass commercial development destroying wetland ecosystems inspired by herons who nest in the same area each year. The second image is Mon Arch. A piece exploring the endangerment of the Monarch butterfly. The dance starts with an underlying sense of piece that quickly turns to struggle and the feeling of no return. However it ends with an uprising of hope. The last two are from a dance film. Also focused on mass commercial development and its environmental consequences.
